Each Sunday we affirm together: "Unity of Bandon is dedicated to a Life of Love and a Love of Life!". Laughter, joy, a child-like wonder and creative imagination are keystones of our congregation and our Board. Work and play are intricately intertwined as witnessed by the above picture of a recent day-long board work session.
Each year our congregation sets a focus or intention around which many of our goals and activities revolve. Last year's focus was "engagement" and through the loving action of many hands, our sanctuary, classroom, library, and bookstore underwent a complete overhaul and beautification. A volunteer crew built a wall to close off the minister's office, creating a quiet and peaceful space for centering prayer and counseling.
This year our focus or intention is on LIGHT, or more specifically, "to shine our light by engaging, encouraging, and expanding spiritual family". This idea will be carried throughout our activities including: increasing or changing the physical lighting in our sanctuary, sharing our light with prayer buddies or secret pals, participating in social action Compassionate Response activities in our community and beyond, as well as tithing to and participating with organizations such as KIVA Loans (see www.kiva.org) to bring light to every corner of the world.
In whatever way God expresses through us in 2008, we know it will be done with joy! I hope you will join us on this spiritual adventure.
