"What Would Your Life Be... Without Unity of Bandon"

Do you consider Unity of Bandon your "home"? Is it important to you that there be a Unity church in Bandon? Unity of Bandon needs your support so we can be here for you and for others yet to come- some of whom are just taking the first step on their spiritual path. Do you remember the comfort in knowing that there were others who shared your spiritual path – that feeling of coming "home"? Without a doubt, Unity of Bandon is important in our lives.

Did you know that this church is completely autonomous, receiving no financial support from any "parent" organization. We are supported 100% by member contributions. The bottom line is this – increased financial flow is needed this year while we pay licensed teacher Karen Lowe to fill in during Reverend Robin’s sabbatical while continuing to pay Robin’s usual salary. The board took this into account in planning for this year, but we find that our income is less than in past years, causing our deficit to grow.

We have been conserving money and cutting costs where we can. We have wonderful construction/handyman elves who frequent our church on a regular basis with various tools so we don’t need to hire someone to do the job. We receive generous donations of cleaning supplies and cookies. If you have any ideas for us to create prosperity, please jot them down and drop them in the prosperity jar at church or send them to us via email or snail mail.

Even with feeling this economic pinch, Unity of Bandon continues to tithe 10% off the top of the money we receive. Our tithes are shared with various charities and community groups in the southwestern counties of Oregon along with supporting our Association of Unity Churches and Silent Unity. In recent months, we have seen an increase in homelessness. Many organizations known for assisting those in need have no money left to offer assistance. Homeless shelters are full. Members of our church community have been contacted by those affected by the current economic situation. Our church has offered gift certificates to those in need for basic items. The more money our church brings in, the more we pass on to those organizations doing so much to make a difference in the lives of so many people. Every act we do DOES make a difference in the world.

An increased tithe or offering of $5.00 - $10.00 per person per week will readjust our financial condition and assist in covering our increased expenses for this year. What are some of the ways we release $5- $10/week that could be redirected to our spiritual home?

*Forgoing the drive-up coffee stand a few times a week or for some of us a few times a day.

*Renting a video at Ray’s or the video store instead of going to the movie theatre.

*Passing on Subway’s $5 sub sandwich special.

*Admiring that 6 pack of flowers at the garden center and buying a packet of flower seeds instead.

Ask yourself - what is it worth to me to have this spiritual home? What changes am I personally willing to make to direct more of my money to Unity of Bandon to keep it here? We are making the choice to redirect money to support a spiritual home that is here for us, a place where we connect with loving people who have a special place in our hearts. That is well worth it to us.
